Hello! I’m Laura Ford, a wedding photographer based in Santa Barbara California. I document weddings in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County, Palm Springs, and beyond. My photography style is both editorial and photojournalistic.

Because of the variety that California offers, the weddings that I document here are also very diverse. I’ve photographed desert ceremonies, mountaintop celebrations, quirky warehouse weddings, oceanside I-do’s, vineyard vows, and many more! I get to go so many places with my clients and it’s been oh so fun! I love the modern couples I work with and all of the experiences I get to have along the way.

Couples who I work with are real people. They come from all walks of life and are interesting humans with layered, multifaceted, beautiful stories. I make it a high priority to earnestly connect with my clients, gain their trust, and help them feel comfortable in front of a camera which paves the way for us to create photos that remind you of the way you felt on your wedding day! My clients want their day captured with beautiful candids and fun-loving portraits that don’t feel overly posed. They tell me that I am very approachable and that I fit right into their company. I have a detailed yet relaxed personality and my goal is to capture the essence of a wedding day without being in the way.

As far as aesthetic, my photos are bright cheerful, and thoughtfully framed. I love integrating color in perfect doses into my shots. Keeping an eye out for spaces that have the perfect light and also an elegant or interesting backdrop is a natural reflex of mine. Combining the perfect setting with the right color palate and a bit of art direction for my couples is my superpower. Although many elements must come together perfectly to create beautiful captivating portraits, the process is an organic one and more fun than most people would imagine. My approach can be described as both photojournalistic and editorial.

When I’m not photographing weddings you can find me at the beach with my gal pals, antique store browsing, playing euchre with neighbors, or volunteering at the Farmers Market in Ojai. :-)
